Only guests with a completed booking can review a venue on Gatherland, once per booking. That means every review comes from someone who actually booked and used the venue. This policy explains what reviews may contain, what we remove and how to report a review.
1. Who can review
1.1 You can review a venue only after a completed booking made through the platform.
1.2 You can write one review per booking.
1.3 Hosts cannot review their own venues, and cannot review competitors' venues.
2. What a review contains
A review has:
- an overall score;
- scores for cleanliness, value, location and facilities;
- optional tags;
- optional text;
- optional photos.
3. What reviews should be
3.1 Honest and based on your own experience of the booking.
3.2 About the venue and the booking: the space, its condition, facilities, value, location, check-in and how the host dealt with you.
3.3 Negative reviews are welcome. We do not remove a review because it is critical or because the host disagrees with it.
4. What we remove
We may remove a review, a reply or a photo, in whole or in part, if it:
- is not about the venue or the booking;
- contains personal data, such as phone numbers, addresses or full names of other people;
- contains hate speech, discrimination, threats, harassment or obscene content;
- makes allegations of crime that should be reported to the police instead;
- advertises another business or contains links to one;
- was written by the host, someone connected to the host, or a competitor;
- was paid for, offered in exchange for a benefit, or obtained through pressure or threats;
- includes the venue's door codes or other security information;
- infringes someone else's rights, such as copyright in a photo;
- is otherwise unlawful.
5. Host replies
5.1 Hosts can reply publicly to a review.
5.2 Replies must be factual and polite. They must not include the guest's personal data, threats, or details of a private dispute beyond what is needed to respond.
5.3 Replies are subject to the same removal rules as reviews.
6. No paid or incentivised reviews
6.1 Hosts must not offer money, refunds, discounts, free time or any other benefit in return for a review, or for a better review.
6.2 Hosts must not ask a guest to change or remove a review in exchange for anything, including settling a deposit claim.
6.3 Guests earn rewards points for publishing a review. The points are the same whatever score you give, and whether the review is positive or negative.
6.4 If we find incentivised or fake reviews, we may remove them and suspend the accounts involved.
7. Editing and removal by the author
After submitting a review, you can add up to four photos to it. Reviews cannot otherwise be edited or deleted by the author; to correct or remove a published review, contact us.
8. Reporting a review
8.1 To report a review or reply that breaks this policy, use the contact form. Include the venue link, identify the review and explain the problem.
8.2 We review reports and will tell you the outcome. A report does not mean the review will be removed. We remove only content that breaks this policy or the law.
