Getting there
Kowloon Bay station is on the Kwun Tong line. North of the station are housing estates and the mall above the station; cross the road to the south and you are in the Kowloon Bay business area. The western edge of the business area is close to Ngau Tau Kok, so some venues are just as easy from Ngau Tau Kok station.
Plenty of buses and minibuses stop along Kwun Tong Road and Kai Cheung Road. Roads are wider than in older districts, so driving is more practical, and malls and some buildings have car parks.
What venues are like here
The Kowloon Bay business area grew out of an industrial zone, and older factory buildings now stand alongside modern office towers. Industrial units are large and commonly used as party rooms, photo studios and dance studios. Office buildings tend to host meeting rooms, training rooms and event spaces with newer fit-outs and equipment.
Office buildings usually have management and security, so you may need to register at night or on holidays. In industrial buildings, check gate hours and lift arrangements.
What it's good for
- Company events and team building: lots of offices nearby, plus spaces for training and talks.
- Meetings and workshops: well-equipped meeting rooms in modern buildings suit client meetings.
- Big birthdays and gatherings: roomy industrial units handle larger groups.
Compare with nearby Kwun Tong and Ngau Tau Kok.
Practical tips
- Head south: the business area is south of the station; agree on an exit when meeting.
- Food is easy: the station mall and the large malls in the area have supermarkets and restaurants.
- Weekend mall traffic: the MegaBox area gets busy at weekends; allow extra time.
- Register at office buildings: on holidays you may need to sign in at the lobby; follow the host's instructions.
