Getting there
Kai Tak station is on the Tuen Ma line, with direct trains from the eastern and western New Territories and from Hung Hom and To Kwa Wan. One exit connects to a mall, and footbridges lead on to Kai Tak and San Po Kong; a separate exit serves Kai Tak Sports Park.
Kai Tak is still being developed, some sites are a fair walk from the station, and bus and minibus routes are still being added. Newer buildings usually have car parks, so driving is easier than in older districts, but roads nearby can be closed or congested on major event days.
What venues are like here
Kai Tak is a new district on the site of the former airport, so buildings are generally very new. Venues are mostly in modern office buildings and malls, with fresh fit-outs and good equipment: meeting rooms, event spaces, studios and themed party rooms. Neighbouring San Po Kong has many industrial-building venues if you need more space.
Modern office buildings usually have security and sign-in, and venues inside malls may follow mall opening hours.
What it's good for
- Company events and meetings: smart, modern buildings that work well for clients and colleagues.
- Team building and big gatherings: the Sports Park and waterfront nearby suit outdoor add-ons.
- Birthdays: new venues, easy transport and a waterfront walk afterwards.
Compare with nearby San Po Kong, Kowloon City and Kowloon Bay.
Practical tips
- Check for big events: the station gets very busy when the Sports Park has an event.
- Use the right exit: different exits lead in different directions, so check before you go.
- Food nearby: the mall connected to the station has restaurants, and San Po Kong next door has plenty of local shops.
- Somewhere to walk: Kai Tak has new waterfront promenades for a stroll before or after.
