Booking a venue in Central

Getting there
Central station is on the Island Line and the Tsuen Wan Line, so guests from Kowloon can come straight across the harbour. Hong Kong station serves the Tung Chung Line and Airport Express, handy from Lantau or the airport, and connects to Central station by underground walkway.
Trams run along Des Voeux Road Central from both ends of the Island. The Star Ferry crosses to Tsim Sha Tsui, and the Central piers also serve the outlying islands. The Central–Mid-Levels Escalator links Central with the Mid-Levels and is useful for venues up the slopes.
Roads are congested and parking is limited, so public transport is the better choice.
What venues are like here
Most venues are meeting rooms and event spaces in commercial buildings, usually well equipped and suited to formal use. On the hillside streets, around Hollywood Road for example, there are older buildings and walk-up tenements with smaller, more characterful spaces, though some have no lift.
Because space is at a premium, venues here tend to be small to mid-sized. Commercial buildings often have separate entry arrangements at night and at weekends, so follow the host's instructions.
What it's good for
- Meetings and workshops: offices are concentrated here, so clients and colleagues can reach you easily. See Central meeting rooms.
- Farewells and after-work drinks: walk over after work, and Lan Kwai Fong is close by if the night continues.
- Small get-togethers: the hillside spaces suit groups of up to about ten.
Practical tips
- Central is steep in places. Allow time if you are carrying supplies uphill, or use the escalator.
- Commercial buildings may require registration at weekends and at night, so confirm entry arrangements with the host early.
- If you need a projector or video conferencing, check the equipment before booking.
- For a bigger party space, compare Sheung Wan, Wan Chai or the industrial areas on the east of the Island.
