Booking a venue in Kennedy Town

Updated 2026-10-04

Getting there

Kennedy Town station is the western terminus of the Island Line, so guests from Central, Causeway Bay or North Point can ride straight through without changing. For venues on the eastern side near the university, get off at HKU station. From Kowloon, take the Tsuen Wan Line to Admiralty or Central and change to the Island Line heading west.

Kennedy Town is one of the tram termini, an unhurried way to arrive from Sheung Wan or Central. Buses and minibuses also serve the area, including routes towards the south side of the Island.

Streets are less congested than in the core districts, but street parking is still limited, so allow time if you drive.

What venues are like here

Kennedy Town is mainly residential. Venues are mostly upper-floor units in mixed-use or older buildings, on the small side. Fit-outs tend to be cosy and simple, suited to groups who want to sit and talk.

With residents all around, keep the volume down at night. Some older buildings have no lift, so check before booking.

What it's good for

  • Get-togethers and birthdays: one train ride for friends in the west or anywhere along the Island Line.
  • Graduation catch-ups: close to the University of Hong Kong.
  • Couples: pair a small room with a sunset walk along the waterfront.

Nearby, browse venues in Sai Ying Pun and Sheung Wan as well.

Practical tips

  • The waterfront gets busy around sunset, so arrive early if you want photos.
  • Venues are close to homes. Keep noise down at night, including in corridors and lift lobbies when you leave.
  • There is plenty of food nearby. Give the floor and unit when ordering delivery.
  • Use the date poll to pick a day with friends and the cost splitter to settle up afterwards.
  • For more space, compare Chai Wan at the other end of the Island Line.
