Venues in Wong Tai Sin

Wong Tai Sin is known for its estates and temple. It has few venues of its own but is next to San Po Kong, and suits family events, gatherings and classes.

Getting there

Wong Tai Sin station is on the Kwun Tong line, with a mall above it and exits near Wong Tai Sin Temple and the surrounding estates. Diamond Hill station to the east has the Kwun Tong and Tuen Ma lines, a convenient place to change if you are coming from the western New Territories or Tseung Kwan O.

Buses and minibuses run to all parts of Kowloon and the New Territories. Estates and malls have car parks, though traffic is heavy on holidays and around festivals.

What venues are like here

Wong Tai Sin is mainly public housing and private homes with no industrial area, so there are few venues: mostly classrooms, children's activity spaces and studios in malls and on commercial floors. Spaces are small to mid-sized and generally family-oriented.

For a large party room or photo studio, the San Po Kong industrial area to the south is not far from Wong Tai Sin station.

  • Family activities: lots of families, with children's venues and parks nearby.
  • Local gatherings and birthdays: residents can walk over without taking transport.
  • Classes: mall classrooms are easy to reach for regular sessions.

  • Festival crowds: around Lunar New Year and major festivals the temple area is packed, so allow extra time.
  • Shop at the station mall: there is a supermarket and restaurants above Wong Tai Sin station.
  • Walking to San Po Kong: head south from Wong Tai Sin station, about 10 to 15 minutes.
  • Mall hours: venues inside malls may follow mall opening hours.
  • Severe weather: if Signal No. 8 or a Black Rainstorm Warning is in force from three hours before the start, you can cancel for a full refund or move within 30 days.

Around Lunar New Year the Wong Tai Sin Temple area is extremely busy, and the station and nearby streets get crowded. Allow extra time if you are meeting there.
