Getting there
Kowloon Tong station is an interchange between the Kwun Tong and East Rail lines, easy to reach from the eastern New Territories and across Kowloon, and connects directly to the Festival Walk mall. The residential streets are wide and quiet, and some venues are 15 minutes or so on foot from the station.
Buses and minibuses run to other parts of Kowloon. Parking in the residential area is limited, though the mall has a car park.
What venues are like here
Kowloon Tong is mainly low-density housing, schools and universities, with no industrial area, so venues are few. The most common are classrooms, learning centres, studios and small meeting rooms, some on commercial floors and some in converted low-rise buildings. Spaces are small to mid-sized and the setting is generally quiet.
The residential streets are very quiet at night, so venues tend to have stricter noise and hours rules, and some mainly offer daytime slots.
What it's good for
- Meetings and workshops: an interchange station in a calm setting.
- Classes and small-group teaching: a school-heavy area that is easy for parents.
- Small gatherings: eat or shop at the mall afterwards.
For bigger parties, try San Po Kong, Kowloon Bay or Kowloon City.
