Getting there

Fortress Hill station on the Island Line is the main stop, one stop east of Tin Hau and one stop west of North Point. Trams run along King's Road through the area, convenient from Causeway Bay or North Point, and there are plenty of buses and minibuses. From the Tseung Kwan O Line, change to the Island Line at North Point and ride one stop west.

The streets on the hill side climb, and some housing sits higher up. Most venues are along King's Road, which is flat and easy to walk.

King's Road is busy at peak times and street parking is limited.

What venues are like here

Fortress Hill is mainly residential. Venues are mostly upper-floor units in mixed-use or older buildings along King's Road, small to mid-sized. Fit-outs tend to be simple and practical, suited to chatting, board games or small group activities.

With many residents nearby, keep the volume down at night. Lifts in some older buildings are small, so allow time if you are carrying a lot.

What it's good for

  • Small get-togethers and birthdays: easy for friends in the east of the Island, and less crowded than Causeway Bay.
  • Classes and hobby groups: the quieter setting suits language, craft and study groups.
  • Small meetings: close to offices in North Point and Quarry Bay.

If the choice is thin, browse Tin Hau and North Point too.

Practical tips

  • Searching with Tin Hau and North Point gives you many more options.
  • Entrances to older buildings can sit between shopfronts, so check the street number before you go.
  • Keep the noise down at night in residential buildings.
  • Slots are in 30-minute steps, so include time for setting up and clearing away when you book.
  • Use the date poll to pick a day with friends and the cost splitter to settle up afterwards.
