Getting there

North Point station is on the Island Line and is the Island-side terminus of the Tseung Kwan O Line, so guests from Tseung Kwan O and Tiu Keng Leng can ride straight in. On the Island Line, Fortress Hill is one stop west and Quarry Bay one stop east.

North Point has a tram terminus, and some trams run right through the Chun Yeung Street market, a memorable stretch of the route. Ferries from North Point pier run to Hung Hom and Kowloon City, worth considering from those areas. Buses and minibuses are plentiful.

King's Road is often busy and street parking is limited, so allow time if you drive.

What venues are like here

Venues are mostly upper-floor units in commercial, mixed-use and older buildings along King's Road, ranging from small to mid-sized. The feel is more everyday and neighbourhood than Causeway Bay. Lifts in some older buildings are small and slow, so allow time if you are carrying a lot.

There is plenty of housing around, so keep the volume down at night. Commercial buildings may have separate entry arrangements at night and on holidays.

What it's good for

  • Birthdays and family gatherings: easy to reach from the east of the Island and from Kowloon.
  • Get-togethers: head up after dinner to chat, play mahjong or board games.
  • Classes and hobby groups: the community feel suits regular bookings for a class.
  • Small meetings: close to the Quarry Bay offices.

Nearby, browse Fortress Hill and Quarry Bay as well.

Practical tips

  • The market streets are busy in the daytime, so take it slowly if you are carrying supplies.
  • For friends in Hung Hom or Kowloon City, the ferry is an option. Check the operator's timetable.
  • If older relatives are coming, choose a venue with a lift and comfortable seating.
  • Slots are in 30-minute steps, so include time for setting up and clearing away when you book.
  • Use the date poll to pick a day with friends and the cost splitter to settle up afterwards.
