Booking a venue in Sai Kung

Getting there
Sai Kung has no MTR station. The two usual ways in:
- From Hang Hau station on the Tseung Kwan O line, take a green minibus straight to Sai Kung town.
- From Choi Hung station on the Kwun Tong line, take a green minibus to Sai Kung.
Buses also run from Kowloon and the eastern New Territories. For village houses and outdoor venues outside town you will usually need a taxi, another minibus or a car.
Driving is the most convenient option, but parking in town is very tight at weekends and on holidays, and the roads in and out get congested in the afternoon. Check the last minibus or bus before the party ends.
What venues are like here
Sai Kung has no industrial area, so its venues are quite different from the city:
- Village houses and sea-view homes: gardens, rooftops or balconies, some with sea views, suited to a full day together.
- Outdoor BBQ spaces: lawns or covered areas, some with BBQ food sets as an add-on.
- Town-centre mixed-use buildings: near the waterfront and minibus stops, the easiest to reach, usually smaller.
Most village houses have no lift, so expect stairs. The surroundings are very quiet at night, so keep the volume down for the neighbours.
What it's good for
- BBQ gatherings: Sai Kung is one of Hong Kong's favourite BBQ spots. See BBQ venues.
- Full-day gatherings with friends: the waterfront or countryside by day, a village-house party in the evening.
- Team building: outdoor space for games and a BBQ.
- Couples' celebrations: a sea-view home or rooftop sets the mood for two or a small group.
Practical tips
- For countryside venues, check the route and the last minibus or bus before you leave. Larger groups can share cars or taxis.
- If Typhoon Signal No. 8 or a Black Rainstorm Warning affects an outdoor booking, the platform's severe weather rule applies. See the cancellation policy.
- In summer bring insect repellent, sunscreen and plenty of water.
- Before bringing food and drinks to a village house, ask the host about the fridge, cooking equipment and rubbish disposal.
- For a large indoor room near the MTR, look at Tseung Kwan O or Kwun Tong.
Frequently asked questions
Is there an MTR station in Sai Kung?
No. The easiest way in is a green minibus from Hang Hau station on the Tseung Kwan O line to Sai Kung town, or a minibus from Choi Hung station on the Kwun Tong line. Buses also run from Kowloon. The exact address is shown after your booking is confirmed.
How do I get to a countryside venue in Sai Kung?
Many village houses and outdoor venues are outside Sai Kung town, so you will need a taxi or minibus from town, or a car. Larger groups can share cars. Check the route on the venue page before you go, or ask the host.
What happens to a Sai Kung BBQ booking if there is a rainstorm?
Outdoor venues depend on the weather. If Typhoon Signal No. 8 or above or a Black Rainstorm Warning is in force at any time from three hours before the start until the start, you can cancel for a full refund or move the booking under the platform's severe weather rule. See the cancellation policy for details.
