What venues are like here

Almost every venue in Fo Tan is in an industrial building. The area has long been a base for artists and makers, and many units have been turned into studios and craft spaces, so as well as party rooms you will find photo studios, workshop spaces and rehearsal rooms.

High ceilings and large units suit sets, lighting and anything that needs floor space, and the bigger party rooms fit large birthdays and company gatherings. Venues operate in the evenings and at weekends, but gate and lift arrangements differ by building, so follow the host's entry instructions.

What it's good for

  • Team building and rehearsals: company events, dance practice or performance run-throughs.

Practical tips

  • Many Fo Tan industrial buildings have similar names. Give the building name, block, floor and unit for deliveries and to friends.
  • Lifts can be slow at the end of the working day and at weekends. Arrive a few minutes early.
  • If you are bringing equipment for a shoot, a unit near a goods lift saves a lot of effort. Ask the host first.
  • For venues closer to the estates or the town centre, also look at Sha Tin and Tai Wai.
