Getting there

Shek Mun station is on the Tuen Ma line, between City One and Tai Shui Hang. It is four stops from Tai Wai, and there are direct trains from Diamond Hill and Kai Tak in east Kowloon. From Kowloon Tong or Mong Kok East, change from the East Rail line to the Tuen Ma line at Tai Wai. The business buildings are clustered around the station, so the walk is short.

Shek Mun sits between Sha Tin town centre and Ma On Shan, with plenty of buses and minibuses. If you drive, some buildings have car parks, but spaces and charges depend on the building, and nearby roads are busier at the end of the working day.

What venues are like here

Venues in Shek Mun are mainly in industrial and office buildings. Compared with the older blocks in Fo Tan or Kwai Chung, many buildings here are newer, with tidier lobbies and lifts, which helps when you are hosting clients or colleagues.

Units are large, so alongside party rooms there are multi-purpose rooms, meeting rooms and rehearsal rooms. The area is busy on weekdays and much quieter in the evenings and at weekends, which suits activities that need space without much noise around. Follow the building's rules and the host's entry instructions.

What it's good for

  • Company events and team building: newer buildings and easy transport, so colleagues find it without trouble.
  • Meetings and training: see meeting rooms. Weekday daytime works best for meetings.
  • Large birthdays: space for a big group, and close for friends in Ma On Shan and Sha Tin.
  • Annual dinners and farewells: a large room with a projector covers most needs.
