Getting there
Tseung Kwan O is served by the Tseung Kwan O line, with five stations in the district: Po Lam, Hang Hau, Tseung Kwan O, Tiu Keng Leng and LOHAS Park. The line splits at Tseung Kwan O station, one branch to Hang Hau and Po Lam, the other to LOHAS Park. Tiu Keng Leng has a cross-platform interchange with the Kwun Tong line for east Kowloon, and the Tseung Kwan O line continues west via Yau Tong to Quarry Bay and North Point, so Hong Kong Island guests do not need to change in Kowloon.
There are plenty of buses and minibuses, including routes to Sai Kung. If you drive, malls and estates have many car parks, and the Cross Bay Link has made the LOHAS Park and industrial estate side easier to reach.
What venues are like here
Tseung Kwan O is a planned new town of housing estates, malls and public facilities. The Tseung Kwan O Industrial Estate is mainly large plants, data centres and broadcasters, not a place for hourly venues, so most venues are in malls or commercial buildings near the estates: mid-sized and suited to gatherings of around ten, kids' parties, classes and small meetings.
Venues close to homes tend to be tidy, but keep the noise down at night. For large industrial-building rooms, head to Yau Tong or Kwun Tong, one change away at Tiu Keng Leng.
What it's good for
- Kids' parties: lots of estates and families, and venues nearby are the easiest with small children. See kids' party rooms.
- Family birthdays: everyone can get there in a stop or two.
- Small meetings and training: teams based in Tseung Kwan O do not need to go into the city. See meeting rooms.
- A waterfront walk and a party: the Tseung Kwan O waterfront promenade is good for a ride or walk with the kids beforehand.
Practical tips
- The line splits at Tseung Kwan O station. Tell friends heading to Po Lam, Hang Hau or LOHAS Park which train to take.
- At venues near housing estates, keep an eye on the end time and the volume.
- With children, check the venue page for a child rate, kids' facilities or a minimum headcount.
- For big rooms or industrial-building party rooms, search Kwun Tong and Yau Tong; for a countryside BBQ, see Sai Kung.
