Getting there
Chai Wan station is the eastern terminus of the Island Line, a direct ride from anywhere on the line. The industrial area is a short walk from the station. For venues on the Heng Fa Chuen side, Heng Fa Chuen station may be closer. Buses and minibuses also serve the area.
There are no trams in Chai Wan; the eastern tram terminus is at Shau Kei Wan. The Island Eastern Corridor runs straight to Chai Wan, and some industrial buildings have car parks or loading bays, so parking is easier than in the western commercial districts. Check with the host first.
What venues are like here
The Chai Wan industrial area has many industrial buildings, and most venues are in industrial units. They are usually larger than commercial units with higher ceilings, which suits activities that need space. You will find party rooms, dance studios, band rooms and photo studios.
Industrial buildings have separate passenger and goods lifts, and you may wait at busy times. At night and on holidays some buildings only open a designated entrance, so follow the host's instructions. With few residents nearby, noise is usually less of a concern than in mixed-use buildings, but venue rules still apply.

What it's good for
- Big birthdays and get-togethers: plenty of room for a dozen or more. See Chai Wan party rooms.
- Team-building: enough space for games or breakout activities.
- Dance and band rehearsals: many dance studios and band rooms, with fewer noise worries.
- Photo and video shoots: high ceilings and open space suit product shots, short videos and small productions.
Practical tips
- If you are arriving at night or on a holiday, read the host's entry instructions in advance.
- Few eateries open in the industrial area at night and at weekends, so sort out food early.
- If you are bringing equipment or lots of supplies, ask whether you can use the goods lift.
- Chai Wan is at the far eastern end of the Island Line, so friends from the west of the Island or Kowloon will need extra travel time.
