Getting there

Tuen Mun has two Tuen Ma line stations: Siu Hong and Tuen Mun, the western end of the line. Trains run direct from Tsuen Wan West, Mei Foo and Nam Cheong, and also from east Kowloon and the eastern New Territories, though that is a long ride. Inside the district the Light Rail is the main way around, with stops in the town centre, the industrial area, the estates and near the ferry pier, and it continues to Yuen Long and Tin Shui Wai.

Tuen Mun has many bus routes to Kowloon, Tsuen Wan and Lantau. If you drive, some industrial buildings have car parks, but spaces and charges depend on the building; mall car parks in the town centre get busy at weekends.

What venues are like here

Tuen Mun's industrial area is near Tuen Mun station, with a concentration of industrial buildings and large units used for party rooms, rehearsal rooms and studios. Big birthdays and company events fit comfortably. Light Rail stops serve the area, and it is also a manageable walk from Tuen Mun station.

The town centre and the estates also have commercial-building venues, mid-sized and suited to small gatherings and children's activities. Tuen Mun is by the sea, so a waterfront walk before or after is easy; if you choose an outdoor venue, keep an eye on the weather.

What it's good for

  • Large birthdays: industrial-building rooms have space, with options for karaoke, consoles or BBQ equipment.
  • Family gatherings: families in Tuen Mun and Tin Shui Wai do not need to travel into the city.
  • Team building and annual events: big industrial rooms with a projector. See team-building venues.
  • A seaside walk and a party: the Tuen Mun waterfront has a promenade for a stroll.

Practical tips

  • Industrial building names are similar. Give the building name, block, floor and unit to friends and delivery riders.
  • Some industrial buildings run only some lifts or gates at night and on holidays. Follow the host's entry instructions.
  • The ride from Kowloon is long. Check the last train or bus before the party ends.
  • For village houses or BBQ venues, search Yuen Long; if friends live around Tsuen Wan, look at Tsuen Wan.
