Getting there

Tung Chung station is the end of the Tung Chung line, in the town centre. Trains run direct from Hong Kong, Kowloon, Nam Cheong, Lai King and Tsing Yi, and you can change to the Disneyland Resort line at Sunny Bay. From the south-west New Territories or west Kowloon, change from the Tsuen Wan line at Lai King. An extension of the Tung Chung line is under construction and will add new stations, but until it opens, Tung Chung station is the one to use.

There is a bus terminus by the station with routes to the airport, south Lantau and Ngong Ping. If you drive, estates and malls have plenty of car parks, but weekends bring many visitors and the town-centre car parks get busy.

What venues are like here

Tung Chung is a planned new town of housing estates, malls and public facilities, with very few industrial buildings. Venues are mostly in commercial buildings near the estates or malls, mid-sized and suited to kids' parties, birthdays, classes or small gatherings of around ten.

Venues close to homes tend to be tidy, but keep the noise down at night. Tung Chung sits between the sea and the mountains, so you can walk along the waterfront before or after, or take the family to Tung Chung Fort and Hau Wong Temple.

What it's good for

  • Neighbourhood gatherings and classes: venues near the estates are easy for neighbours to reach.
