Booking a venue in Tai Po

Getting there

Tai Po is served by the East Rail line at Tai Po Market and Tai Wo. Tai Po Market is near the old market streets and the town centre; Tai Wo is near the estates and mall to the north. Both are direct from Kowloon Tong, Mong Kok East and Admiralty.

The town centre has plenty of buses and minibuses, and you can change near Tai Po Market station for countryside spots such as Tai Mei Tuk and Lam Tsuen. Driving is much easier than public transport for countryside venues, but weekends and holidays bring heavy traffic and limited parking.

What venues are like here

Venues in Tai Po fall into three groups:

  • Town-centre mixed-use buildings: near Tai Po Market and Tai Wo stations, mid-sized, good for small gatherings, classes or meetings.
  • Industrial buildings: Tai Po has a few in town, with larger rooms for bigger parties.
  • Countryside and outdoor venues: BBQ sites, village houses and open-air spaces on the edge of town, for a gathering with fresh air and grass.

Outdoor venues depend on the weather. Bring sun and mosquito protection in summer, and in winter it gets dark early, so check the lighting.

What it's good for

  • BBQ gatherings: if you want a countryside BBQ without bringing your own gear, see BBQ venues.
  • Family days out with children: outdoor spaces give kids room to run.
  • Family gatherings: families in Tai Po and North district do not need to travel into Kowloon.
  • Birthdays: town-centre rooms for small groups; industrial or outdoor venues for larger ones.

Practical tips

  • For countryside venues, check the route on a map before you leave, and look up the last bus or minibus.
  • If Typhoon Signal No. 8 or a Black Rainstorm Warning affects an outdoor booking, the platform's severe weather rule applies. See the cancellation policy.
  • Bring insect repellent and sunscreen, and extra water in summer.
  • For large indoor rooms, also look at Sha Tin and Fo Tan.
